Description
The Eames Executive Chair is part of the Eames Aluminum Group (1958).
A smart solution for work and dining, this chair actually began as outdoor furniture for a residence designed by Eero Saarinen and Alexander Girard. The pair asked the Eameses to design chairs that were light enough to move from indoors to out, and strong enough to withstand the elements. The timing was perfect, as the Eameses were experimenting with aluminum, which had been strengthened, refined and made more affordable since WWII. For the project, they constructed a lightweight, corrosion-resistant frame that was wrapped in a sling or “sitting pocket".
